Vocal Music

All first- through fifth-grade students at Strandwood participate in a weekly vocal music class. They learn fundamental music and rhythm skills using their voices and various instruments. Each third grader receives a song flute and the classes practice throughout the year with an eye toward a performances in the evening for parents to enjoy.

The vocal music teacher, leads a voluntary chorus of third through fifth graders which rehearses after school. At the end of the year the chorus performs a musical extravaganza.

We feel fortunate that students at Strandwood have access to music instruction and all that does to enrich their lives and enhance their learning. The vocal music program is paid for by our District and provides classroom teachers 1st through 5th with 30 minutes of preparation time per teacher contract.
